Traders confirm strike, refuse negotiations with govt

The Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran Pakistan Stands Firm on Nationwide Strike Against “Tajir Dost Scheme”

The Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran Pakistan has reaffirmed its decision to go ahead with a nationwide shutter-down strike on August 28 in protest against the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Tajir Dost Scheme. President Kashif Chaudhry emphasized that the strike is crucial to protect businesses and the economy amidst the government’s false promises.

Chaudhry stated that no negotiations have taken place with the FBR, and the traders are resolute in their decision to proceed with the strike. The traders’ main grievances include the burdensome advance taxes imposed through the Tajir Dost Scheme and the overall economic mismanagement that has increased the costs of doing business.

This strike is not just a protest; it is a call for immediate relief from the government and aims to draw attention to the challenges faced by the business community. The outcome of the strike will have far-reaching implications for the country’s economic stability and the relationship between the government and traders.
