Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan showed frustration by throwing the ball towards Mohammad Rizwan during the first Test in Rawalpindi.
The incident occurred on Day 5 of the Test when Shakib got upset after Rizwan backed out early during his run-up. The ball thrown in anger narrowly missed Rizwan.
Umpire Richard Kettleborough reprimanded Shakib for his action and the all-rounder later apologized to Rizwan. Despite the incident, Bangladesh went on to secure a historic 10-wicket victory, their first-ever Test win against Pakistan.
Spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan played crucial roles in restricting Pakistan to 146, with Mehidy returning figures of 4-21. Mohammad Rizwan’s fighting 51-run knock couldn’t save Pakistan as Bangladesh chased down a target of 30 with ease.
Shakib’s off-field troubles, including allegations of murder in a case filed in Dhaka, have not affected his performance on the field. Cleared to play by Bangladesh’s interim government, Shakib continues to be a key player for the national team.
