The Ifumsa Health Awareness Club, a branch of the Obafemi Awolowo University Medical Students Association, recently held a successful free medical outreach in the Ifewara community of Osun State.
During the event, named “Village Outreach,” residents received various essential medical services including surgeries, health education, medications, dental checkups, eye care, and screenings for HIV, Hepatitis B, blood sugar, BMI, urinalysis, and malaria parasites.
The Chairman of the club, Baruwa Tawakalt, commended the community’s health-seeking behavior and promised to continue supporting them within their capacity. The club also extended gratitude to Jennifer Etuh Hospital for providing their facility for surgeries.
Temitope Olatunji, Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, highlighted the planning and fundraising efforts required for such programs. She thanked the sponsors, NGOs, and surgical team for their contributions.
Assistant Chairperson, Damilare Osuntoye, emphasized the students’ goal of giving back to the community through free healthcare services and screenings.
