Shroud of Turin Could be Jesus Christ’s Genuine Burial Cloth Based on New Date – Study
Those who believe that the Shroud of Turin was the actual cloth that Jesus Christ was buried in may now have scientific evidence to back their belief. Italian scientists have discovered that the cloth dates back to the time of Jesus Christ. The Shroud of Turin, housed in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy, has long been subject to scrutiny and controversy.
Previous studies dated the shroud to the medieval period, but the latest research suggests otherwise. Using X-ray analysis, researchers found that the linen threads in the shroud originate from the time of Jesus of Nazareth. By examining the flax cellulose in the fabric, scientists aged it to be 2,000 years old, linked to the western Levant region.
While the findings are intriguing, further studies are needed to confirm the age and authenticity of the shroud. The cloth, discovered in medieval France in the 14th century, was presented as Jesus’ burial cloth, although its origins remain shrouded in mystery.
