In a tragic incident on Sunday, at least 21 people, including 11 children, lost their lives in a drone strike on the town of Tinzaouaten in northern Mali. The town, located near the Algerian border, had previously been targeted by airstrikes after Tuareg and Islamist fighters inflicted heavy casualties on Malian soldiers and Russian Wagner mercenaries.
The rebel coalition CSP-DPA stated that the recent drone strikes hit a pharmacy and gatherings of civilians, resulting in the deaths of 21 individuals, including children and the pharmacy manager. Many more were injured, and there was significant damage to property.
Blaming Mali’s army and Wagner mercenaries for the attack, CSP-DPA also accused neighbouring Burkina Faso of operating the drone. Despite these claims, there has been no response from the militaries of Mali, Russia, or Burkina Faso regarding the incident.
