Kidnap kingpin slain, two nabbed in med students’ rescue

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the successful rescue of 20 medical students who were kidnapped while on their way to a convention. During the operation, a notorious kidnapping kingpin was killed, and two abductors were arrested.

Egbetokun highlighted the deployment of various tactical operatives and assets, including helicopters and drones, to ensure the swift rescue of the students. He emphasized that the students were rescued without ransom payment and commended the efforts of security agencies and local vigilantes in the operation.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos pledged to provide psychosocial support to the rescued students, while the Benue State Governor encouraged the students to succeed despite their ordeal. The parents expressed gratitude for the safe return of their children and praised the efforts of the authorities.

Egbetokun assured the public of the police force’s commitment to combating criminal elements and creating a safer Nigeria. He urged those still in captivity not to lose hope, as efforts were ongoing to resolve other kidnapping cases across the country.
