French police seek suspect after synagogue blast injures officer.

French authorities have launched a terrorism investigation following an arson attack on a synagogue in La Grande Motte, injuring a police officer. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, with two cars set on fire at the Beth Yaacov synagogue complex, causing additional fires at the entrances. Fortunately, the five people present, including the rabbi, were unharmed.

The attack is being investigated as an attempted assassination and destruction of property planned by a terrorist group. A suspect carrying a Palestinian flag and a weapon was spotted fleeing the scene. President Macron condemned the act as terrorism, vowing to apprehend the perpetrator.

The acting Prime Minister termed it an antisemitic attack, expressing shock and disgust at the violence. Security personnel have intensified efforts to find the assailant, who was determined to cause harm. Interior Minister Darmanin has ordered increased police presence at Jewish places of worship nationwide to prevent further incidents.

This incident underscores the ongoing battle against antisemitism, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and protection of religious institutions.
