Drone strikes cause fire at military base in southern Russia

A military facility in the Volgograd region of southern Russia was engulfed in flames due to a drone attack, according to regional officials and the Ministry of Defense.

The attack, which targeted a defense ministry facility in the Marinovka area, resulted in a fire but fortunately, there were no casualties reported by Regional Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov. However, the extent of the damage was not specified.

Despite Ukraine not claiming responsibility for the attack, tensions between Ukraine and Russia have escalated as Ukraine launched a ground offensive into Russian territory and conducted drone strikes targeting Moscow.

Videos circulating on social media showed thick black smoke and explosions near the military air base in Marinovka. The Baza Telegram channel reported that multiple drones were involved, with one being intercepted and another causing a trailer near the air base to catch fire.

NASA fire satellites detected fires around the air base’s apron where fighter jets are typically stationed, indicating significant damage.
