A controversial figure in the world of social media, Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer known for promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle, has been placed under house arrest in Romania following his involvement in a human trafficking and sexual exploitation investigation. Alongside his brother Tristan, Tate was among six individuals detained by Romania’s organized crime unit DIICOT after house raids in Ilfov County and Bucharest.
Despite DIICOT’s request for a 30-day detention, a Bucharest court decided to place Andrew Tate under house arrest while keeping Tristan under judicial supervision. The Tate brothers vehemently deny all charges, calling them unfounded and lacking evidence.
Prior to this recent development, Tate and his brother were already under a travel ban within Romania as they faced similar accusations in mid-2023. The ongoing investigation includes allegations of forming an organized crime group, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation.
DIICOT has shed light on the alleged criminal activities of the detainees, including the use of coercive methods like the “loverboy” tactic to exploit victims for profit through online pornography. One accused individual reportedly forced a 17-year-old minor into producing pornographic content, earning significant revenue.
