Recently, Russian Defense Ministry footage captured a Lancet drone carrying out a precision strike on Ukrainian forces in the Kursk Region. The video shows the drone targeting and destroying a Ukrainian tank hidden in the woods near the border.
Following an incursion by Ukrainian troops and vehicles across the border on August 6, Moscow responded by deploying technology like the Lancet drone to take out intruders and intensify its offensive in Donbass. The ten-second clip released by the ministry shows the moment the enemy tank was hit, sending it up in smoke.
The Lancet is a loitering munition developed by Kalashnikov Concern, first used in Syria before being employed in the Ukrainian conflict. Russia has increased production of these drones to target Ukrainian armor.
Russia’s military actions have resulted in the elimination of around 5,500 Ukrainian troops since the incursion began, with strikes targeting forces in Kursk Region as well as Ukraine’s Sumy Region.
