Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with Turkish Defense Industry Agency head Haluk Gorgun to discuss enhancing defense cooperation between the two countries. The leaders had an extensive conversation on strengthening defense ties and also addressed the crisis in Palestine.
During the meeting, Ibrahim expressed Malaysia’s unwavering support for Türkiye’s proposal for an emergency session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address the situation in Gaza and put pressure on the United States and its allies to stop the attacks in Gaza. Gorgun highlighted Türkiye’s increasing strength in the defense industry and the solid collaborations in the region.
Both leaders expressed optimism that the discussions would be fruitful and beneficial for both nations. The meeting signifies a step towards closer defense cooperation between Malaysia and Türkiye, demonstrating a shared commitment to addressing regional challenges.
