In a significant development, the PTI and JUI-F have decided to cooperate on an “issue to issue and agenda to agenda” basis after a meeting between the two parties. The PTI delegation, led by party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to forge unity among opposition parties ahead of crucial sessions in the National Assembly and Senate.
The two parties have agreed to work together to block “controversial” legislations planned by the government for the upcoming parliamentary sessions. Representatives from both sides have been nominated to coordinate in the National Assembly and Senate to devise a joint strategy.
This development comes after Maulana Fazl had announced that JUI-F would take a solo flight against the government but continue to cooperate with opposition parties. The meeting between PTI and JUI-F signifies a move towards issue-based collaboration rather than a formal alliance.
It is interesting to see how this partnership unfolds in the upcoming parliamentary sessions, as both parties navigate their deep ideological differences to work together on common issues.
