The Gorakhpur Special Task Force (STF) Unit uncovered a scandal involving tampering with the UP Police Constable exam in Uttar Pradesh. The key figure in this case is lady constable Pinky Sonkar, who was suspended and posted at Bhinga police station in UP’s Siddharth Nagar district. She was lured by a Delhi-based individual offering hefty commissions for helping candidates clear the exam. Pinky engaged with aspirants through social media, promising selection in exchange for money.
STF seized five admit cards and educational documents from Pinky’s possession and arrested her accomplice in Delhi, Devendra Pratap Singh. The scam involved advanced payments from aspiring candidates, with the remaining amount to be transferred gradually. Despite Pinky’s claims of innocence regarding the recruitment process, she confessed to facilitating the fraud. The STF sprang into action, arresting Pinky, her driver, and security personnel, and recovering incriminating evidence from her phone.
The UP government has implemented stringent measures for the safe conduct of the UP Police Constable re-exam, completed after a paper leak earlier this year. Amid tight security and biometric verification, the exam saw 61 aspirants caught using unfair means on the first day. With millions of candidates vying for 60,244 constable positions, the case sheds light on the lengths some will go to cheat the system.
