A tragic incident in New York resulted in the death of a three-month-old baby who was left alone in an attic with two dogs by their parents, Sulamain Hawkins and Anastasia Weaver, both 19. The couple is now facing manslaughter charges in connection with the baby’s death, according to Rochester Police.
On August 3, Hawkins and Weaver left their baby with the dogs in the attic while they went downstairs to smoke marijuana. Upon returning, they found the baby had been fatally mauled by at least one of the dogs. The child was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
An investigation by police, child protective services, and the district attorney’s office followed the incident. Ultimately, Hawkins and Weaver were arrested and charged with manslaughter. The dogs involved were euthanized in response to the tragedy.
