Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte and Polish President Andrzej Duda visited Kyiv to announce a new aid package for Ukraine on its Independence Day. The package includes drones, air defense missiles, and funds for military equipment. Simonyte expressed her joy in celebrating Ukraine’s independence and pledged further support, including short-range air defense missile systems and drones. Lithuania will also provide 35 million euros for radars and demining equipment.
Simonyte emphasized Lithuania’s commitment to spend 0.25% of its GDP on assistance to Ukraine and defense by 2024, urging other allies to do the same. The Kiel Institute for the World Economy reported that Lithuania has allocated 501 million euros in support for Ukraine. This aid demonstrates solidarity with Ukraine against external threats.
President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Independence Day address emphasized Ukraine’s determination to retaliate against those who wish harm upon the country. The support from Lithuania and other allies is crucial in helping Ukraine defend its sovereignty and independence.
