The Kebbi State Government has taken a significant step towards improving the healthcare of mentally ill patients by distributing free drugs to about 27,000 individuals across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state. This initiative was announced by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Zayyanu Umar-Aliero, at the Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua General Hospital in Zauro.
The commissioner highlighted the commitment of Governor Nasir Idris to providing consistent medical treatment for those with psychiatric problems. The government also emphasized the importance of adhering to prescribed drug regimens to avoid complications and prevent the misuse of medications for personal gain.
In addition to free drugs, the state government has introduced free feeding and transportation services for all mentally ill patients, making their treatment more accessible and effective. These efforts have contributed to a significant reduction in the number of individuals suffering from mental illnesses in Kebbi State.
Overall, this initiative underscores the government’s dedication to improving mental health services and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
