Dr Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor, urged women to prioritize health over bleaching creams during the 2nd Anambra State Women Health Summit. She emphasized the importance of immunization for children’s well-being and condemned the low uptake of vaccines in the state.
Soludo highlighted the success of the free antenatal and delivery policy in reducing maternal mortality and called for similar achievements in immunization coverage. She advised women to focus on regular health checks, balanced diets, and exercises for optimal health.
Dr Uju Obiagwu from WHO expressed concern over decreasing immunization coverage in Anambra and stressed the need for mothers to prioritize vaccination. She warned about outbreaks of preventable diseases due to low immunization rates.
Various health experts and officials, including Prof. Brian Adinma and Dr Afam Obidike, echoed the importance of reproductive health and government support for women and children’s well-being in Anambra. The summit aimed to promote awareness and action for a healthier community.
