The Need to Stop “Fake Negotiations” by Israeli PM Netanyahu

A top Israeli daily, Haaretz, has called for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be stopped from continuing what it calls “fake negotiations” that leave Israeli captives in limbo. The hostages have become supporting characters in the drama of Netanyahu’s fluctuating position regarding the hostage deal.

Despite expressing willingness to negotiate and show flexibility, Netanyahu’s positions have been inconsistent. The newspaper criticized him as a “master of faking negotiations” and warned against allowing him to continue abandoning the hostages.

Security officials, opposition members, and the families of the hostages have accused Netanyahu of obstructing a deal to maintain his position in the government. Efforts to reach a cease-fire have been stalled due to his insistence on military control.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice. Haaretz calls on the public to wake up and prevent further harm to the hostages.
