Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa has introduced an eight-month migration amnesty for Venezuelan nationals and their families without valid residency documents.
The program aims to smoothly integrate Venezuelan migrants into Ecuadorian society, allowing those with expired identity documents up to five years old to still apply for regularization.
Applicants for the new VIRTE II Visa will receive a free application form, with the visa being valid for two years and extendable for an additional two years.
The government will screen applicants for security risks through various intelligence agencies, emphasizing safety alongside migration assistance.
With nearly 97,000 Venezuelans in Ecuador seeking regularized status, this policy not only benefits migrants but also enhances Ecuador’s social and economic landscape.
Compared to other countries like Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina, Ecuador’s migration policy stands out for its positive impact.
