Gaza’s Civil Defense teams have recovered the bodies of 49 Palestinians killed in ongoing Israeli airstrikes over the past two days, the service announced on Saturday. Mohammed Al-Mughayer, director of supply and equipment at Palestinian Civil Defense, confirmed that the casualties resulted from Israeli attacks in southern and central parts of the Gaza Strip.
The recovered bodies were from areas such as the residential city of Hamad, west of Rafah, and the Ain Jalut Towers area in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The victims were killed by artillery shelling, gunfire, or air raids carried out by Israeli forces.
Despite a UN Security Council resolution urging an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its brutal offensive, resulting in over 40,300 Palestinian deaths and 93,300 injuries, mostly women and children. The blockade of Gaza has further exacerbated the situation, causing severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
Accusations of genocide have been leveled against Israel at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in the southern city of Rafah. The ongoing violence has left much of Gaza in ruins, with countless innocent lives lost in the conflict.
