The U.S. has imposed new sanctions against nearly 400 companies and individuals in Russia and other countries for supporting Moscow’s war efforts. This includes Chinese companies as well.
Western nations are taking extensive measures against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, aiming to hinder its budget and access to crucial technologies for the war. The U.S. Treasury Department targeted networks in various jurisdictions, including China, for aiding Russia in evading sanctions.
Moreover, the sanctions hit over 60 Russian technology and defense firms essential to the country’s defense industry. The U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury warned against supporting Russia’s military-industrial supply chains.
The sanctions also address Russia’s chemical and biological weapons programs and entities in the metals and mining sector. Earlier, the Treasury applied sanctions on members of the Russian hacktivist group Cyber Army of Russia Reborn (CARR).
