US imposes new sanctions on Russia – RT World News

The US government has imposed sanctions on nearly 400 individuals and companies worldwide, including the son and wife of Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov. Departments of State and Treasury disclosed this move on the occasion of Ukraine’s independence day, as a show of support to Kiev in its conflict with Moscow. The sanctions target entities and individuals in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Notably, Pavel Belousov and his wife Yevgenya, along with a consulting company owned by them, have been included in the sanctions list. Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo emphasized the importance of avoiding support for Russia’s military-industrial supply chains globally.

The measures also encompass assorted networks spanning 16 jurisdictions, implicating over 100 individuals and entities. Additionally, 18 Hong Kong-based companies allegedly linked to the Russian military industry are under scrutiny.

Financial institutions worldwide have been cautioned to exercise vigilance in dealings with Russian institutions to prevent inadvertent support. These designations freeze the assets of the listed individuals, imposing restrictions on US citizens or foreign nationals within the US from engaging in transactions. Since 2014, Washington and its allies have collectively instituted more than 22,000 sanctions on Russia.
