The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has reaffirmed their dedication to completing all abandoned projects for the benefit of the citizens. During an inspection of the Ogbese Multi-purpose Dam in Ekiti State, it was revealed that construction had started in 2009 but halted due to lack of funds.
Tinubu approved funds to finish the project which aims to provide water, generate hydro-power, and serve irrigation purposes. Utsev emphasized that no project will be left incomplete and that they are determined to deliver results for Nigerians. The dam, once completed, will generate electricity, boost agriculture, and provide water supply to the population.
The project is 70% complete, with the hydro-power component nearing installation. Completion will create jobs and enhance food production. Despite the challenges, the ministry remains committed to finishing the dam and similar projects nationwide.
Contractor Mr. Fahd Jammal affirmed readiness to resume work once funds are available. Overall, the project aims to uplift rural and urban communities, reducing poverty and improving lives.
