Latvia readies record drones shipment for Ukraine

Latvia is showing its support for Ukraine by transferring its largest batch of drones yet. Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced the delivery of 1,400 drones, concluding a program that procured a total of 2,700 drones from Latvian manufacturers. The drones are part of the international drone coalition, with Latvia leading alongside the U.K. to supply Ukrainian forces with this critical capability.

In addition to this assistance, Ukraine is also focused on scaling up domestic drone production, aiming to produce at least 1 million drones by 2024. This support comes at a crucial time as Ukraine continues its cross-border offensive in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

The coalition, which includes seven other countries besides Latvia and the U.K., aims to strengthen Ukraine’s arsenal of unmanned aerial vehicles. This initiative showcases international solidarity with Ukraine in its ongoing conflict. By collaborating with allies to provide essential military resources, these efforts contribute to Ukraine’s defense and security.
