Kekere-Ekun vows to rebuild confidence in Nigerian judiciary.

The newly appointed acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has expressed her commitment to building trust in the Nigerian judiciary system. In her inaugural speech, she emphasized that improving the reputation of the judiciary and instilling confidence in the people will be a collective effort.

Justice Kekere-Ekun plans to introduce reforms in the appointment process for judicial officers during her tenure to create a judiciary that all Nigerians can be proud of. She urged everyone to have faith in the system and work towards a better justice system.

Her appointment came after the recommendation by the National Judicial Council, following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola. At 66 years old, Justice Kekere-Ekun is set to serve until 2028, pending confirmation by the Senate.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by top dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, among others.
