Hungary is considering a unique way to respond to the European Court of Justice’s penalties by offering asylum seekers the opportunity to travel to Western Europe at the country’s expense. Gergely Gulyas, a senior government official, unveiled this plan in response to a €200 million fine imposed on Hungary for failing to comply with EU refugee rules. He stated, “We will offer all migrants at the Hungarian border the opportunity to be transported to Brussels voluntarily and free of charge.”
