The programme aims to reduce poverty and improve the local soya bean industry by providing training and resources to farmers. The main scientist, Prof Li Xiaoyun, is leading the project to boost soya milk production in the region. The process involves soaking seeds, grinding them, filtration, and boiling the liquid to produce soya milk.
Local farmers like Omary Jayo have embraced the technology, with Jayo now selling each cup of soya milk for $0.18 after investing in a grinding machine. The success of the project in Tanzania highlights the potential for sustainable agricultural practices and local economic development.
