In a bold and unprecedented move, Ukraine launched a massive drone attack near the capital Moscow, as reported by Russia on Wednesday. The local authorities dubbed it as “the biggest ever drone raid on Moscow.” According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Russian air defense systems successfully shot down 11 drones on the approach to the capital during the four-hour attack that took place from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. Moscow time.
The Defense Ministry confirmed the destruction of a total of 45 drones overnight across various Russian regions, with 11 over Moscow region. This led to the suspension of operations at three Moscow airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky – late Tuesday night due to an air raid alert.
Despite Russia’s claims, Ukraine has yet to respond, with verification challenging amidst the ongoing conflict between the two nations. The daring drone attack marks a significant escalation in tensions between the neighboring countries. The repercussions of this event remain to be seen as the situation unfolds.
