Russian President Putin Accuses Ukraine of Trying to Strike Nuclear Power Plant
During a meeting in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin claimed that Ukraine attempted to strike the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in the border region. The incursion by Kyiv over two weeks ago has escalated tensions in the area.
Putin stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been alerted about the situation and will send specialists to assess the plant. Meanwhile, Kursk Governor Alexey Smirnov assured that the situation at the plant remains stable.
According to the Defense Ministry, a Ukrainian drone was intercepted over the Kursk region during an overnight attack. However, Ukrainian authorities have not yet responded to these claims.
The Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, located about 60 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, plays a crucial role in providing energy to the region. The alleged attack has raised concerns about the safety and security of nuclear facilities in the area.
