The Federal Government recently announced that it had saved N1.7tn from 2009 to 2022 by addressing gaps in its procurement processes. This revelation was made during a fact-finding tour by the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, to various government agencies in Abuja.
The Bureau of Public Procurement revealed that the Act establishing the agency is undergoing a review to align with international standards and reduce corruption. Gbajabiamila emphasized the importance of a thorough needs assessment for the 2025 budget to ensure funding meets actual requirements.
During the tour, the Chief of Staff praised the agencies for their efforts in saving significant funds and highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritizing resources effectively. He also stressed transparency in the procurement process to uphold good governance.
The visit aimed to strengthen institutions and improve working conditions for staff. Gbajabiamila also acknowledged the vital role of agencies in driving the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda in economic sectors.
The tour included discussions on staff welfare, innovation, excellence, and professionalism. Gbajabiamila expressed confidence in agencies like NALDA, NAEC, and NASENI to advance technological development in Nigeria.
