Vice President Shettima Calls for Enhanced Cooperation with Tanzania
Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized the need for strengthened cooperation between Nigeria and Tanzania, highlighting their shared aspirations for continental growth and unity. During a meeting with former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima praised Tanzania’s leadership legacy and described the country as a beacon of hope and stability in East Africa.
Shettima emphasized the importance of fostering stronger economic and social ties between Nigeria and Tanzania, especially within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area. He noted that the success of key African nations like Nigeria and Tanzania would benefit the entire continent.
Former President Kikwete expressed Tanzania’s readiness to strengthen business and diplomatic ties with Nigeria, highlighting the existing cooperation between the two countries. Both leaders emphasized the importance of revisiting outdated agreements and scaling up bilateral relations in the spirit of African solidarity.
The meeting also included representatives from the Tanzanian High Commission in Nigeria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the Former President of Tanzania, reaffirming the commitment to deepening cooperation between the two nations.
