Ministry Launches Initial Phase of Health Coverage Program

Balqa – Minister of Health Firas Hawari has announced the first phase of Jordan’s comprehensive health coverage plan, approved by the government in June. The plan focuses on primary health care, structural and legislative reforms, and financial sustainability.

Minister Hawari inaugurated the Sihan Health Center in Balqa, funded by a JD830,000 grant from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. He emphasized the strategy of closing and merging sub-health centers to enhance quality.

The plan includes opening 12 new health centers, expanding existing centers, and expanding the Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II Hospital. Foundations were laid for the expansion of Maan Governmental Hospital and Ghor Al Mazra’a Health Center.

Balqa Governor Salman Najada highlighted the improved health services provided by the new Sihan Health Center, serving over 5,000 people with general medicine, dentistry, family medicine, maternal and child care, vaccinations, laboratory services, and emergency care.

Overall, this initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality across Jordan, ensuring better health outcomes for its citizens.
