Lagos steps up cleanup efforts, forms taskforce to nab offenders.

The Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources is taking action to eliminate open defecation along the Ojodu-Berger highway median. Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab announced on X.com that a cleanup taskforce has been established to apprehend offenders and deter the public from defecating on the roadside.

Earlier efforts were made by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency and the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to curb open defecation in the area. Focus was placed on the median from the OPIC Plaza to the Odetola Bridge, aiming to maintain cleanliness on the newly rehabilitated road.

It is crucial to respect the environment and adhere to regulations to avoid penalties for such offenses. The government’s initiatives are a step towards creating a cleaner and more hygienic environment for all residents in the region.
