Kwankwaso’s relative heeds Kano corruption probe invite

The investigation into a multi-billion naira drugs contract scam at Kano Local Government Areas has taken a new turn as Musa Garba, the owner of Novomed Pharmaceuticals, agreed to appear before the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission. The contract in question was for the supply of N440m worth of drugs, part of an alleged scam involving the 44 LGAs of the state. The investigation also uncovered anomalies in a borehole water repairs contract valued at N660m.

Several officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, were interrogated, and Musa Garba was subsequently invited by the commission. Responding to the invitation, Garba, who is Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s nephew, expressed his willingness to cooperate but raised concerns about facing multiple interrogations by different anti-graft agencies for the same matter.

His legal counsel mentioned the possibility of challenging the multiple invitations in court. Meanwhile, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission has yet to comment on the situation. The unfolding developments indicate a complex web of corruption allegations that Garba and others involved are navigating.
