A father’s quest for justice leads to imprisonment
The aftermath of the 2022 Women, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran has resulted in a father being sentenced to eight years and 10 months in prison, facing a $33,000 fine, property confiscation, and loss of his car, according to human rights organization Hengaw.
Mashaallah Karami, father of protester Mohammad Mahdi who was executed unjustly, was previously sentenced to six years behind bars for seeking answers regarding his son’s death. Now, in a recent ruling, Karami has been convicted of financial crimes, discrediting his efforts as exploitation.
Despite claims that the wealth in question was donations from the public for support, Karami faces harsh consequences. Human rights activists view this as an attempt to silence his calls for justice.

Local media reports an alarming trend called ‘patient trading,’ where private ambulances transport patients to specific hospitals in exchange for payments, sometimes without family consent, shedding light on unethical practices in the healthcare system.
Journalist Ehsan Golmohammadi revealed this practice on Instagram, exposing how critically ill patients are being exploited for financial gains within the system.
