Federal Government Dissolves Boards of Four Power Distribution Companies
The federal government has taken a significant step by dissolving the boards of four power distribution companies, also known as Discos. This decision came on the recommendation of the cabinet committee, marking a major development in the energy sector.
Earlier, the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises approved the dissolution of the boards of a total of nine government-run power distribution companies. New boards have been formed for Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO), Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO).
Under the new arrangement, Imran Zafar, Mehfooz Ali Khan, and Himayatullah Khan have been appointed as chairmen for different power distribution companies. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to revamping the energy sector for improved efficiency and service delivery.
This strategic move is expected to bring about positive changes and enhance the performance of these companies in the coming years.
