Devastating Floods Displace Families in Gogrial West County

In Gogrial West County, Warrap State, multiple families have been forced to flee to higher ground as floods sweep through the area. Schools and health facilities have been shut down due to the rising waters, leaving local residents without vital services.

Gogrial West County Commissioner Wek Koor Aru revealed that 8 schools and 11 health facilities have been closed, along with numerous hand pumps. The flooding, which began in July, has destroyed crops and raised concerns about an impending famine.

Relief efforts are underway, with the County Coordinator for the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), Bol Kuch, reporting that a state government team has assessed the situation. A civil society leader, Bona Malual, highlighted the widespread impact of the floods across the entire state, emphasizing the urgent need for support.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of the disaster, residents remain on high alert, awaiting further updates on the response efforts.
