A former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has approached the Calcutta High Court to request an ED investigation against ex-principal Sandip Ghosh for alleged financial irregularities during his tenure at the state-run facility.
Permission was granted by Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj to Akhtar Ali to file a petition urging the Enforcement Directorate to investigate financial irregularities involving Ghosh.
In 2023, Ali had reported Ghosh to the West Bengal government authorities for alleged misconduct.
Following the discovery of a woman doctor’s body in a seminar hall on August 9, the state government established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which is also being investigated by the CBI.
The CBI is specifically looking into the alleged rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee, as per the High Court’s directives.
