Military Prosecution Seeks Extension of House Arrest for Suspects Accused of Abusing Hamas Prisoner
The Military Prosecution has requested an extension of house arrest under the supervision of five reserve IDF soldiers suspected of abusing a Hamas prisoner at the Sde Teiman base. The request is to extend the house arrest by two more weeks until September 5, as the investigation nears completion.
During the hearing, the prosecution presented 100 testimonies collected during the investigation, detailing the sequence of events for the first time. The alleged assault on the prisoner involved several suspects pinning him to a wall, beating him with a baton, and using a taser, resulting in injuries that required medical treatment.
Attorney Adi Keidar, representing the suspects, requested the prosecution to drop sexual offense allegations and allow both sides time to review the investigation materials. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that the military police investigation will conclude soon, with all materials to be handed over to the defense for review.
