China and Russia to boost economic and trade ties

In a significant move, China and Russia have committed to enhancing economic and trade cooperation, as per the joint communique issued after the 29th regular meeting between the two countries’ heads of government. Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin co-chaired this crucial meeting in Moscow.

The document outlines various key points, including the optimization of trade structures, creation of new growth points for both economies, and the promotion of e-commerce development. Both nations also support hosting the ninth China-Russia Expo in Russia in 2025, along with the fifth China-Russia Forum on Interregional Cooperation within the Expo framework.

The communique further highlights efforts to strengthen cooperation in the Arctic, focusing on shipping development and navigation safety, while also emphasizing the importance of preserving the Arctic ecosystem. Additionally, plans are in place to expand agricultural trade, enhance mutual access to agricultural products, and facilitate the export of Russian processed meat products to China.

Moreover, the two countries have pledged support to BRICS nations in capacity building, joint research, and global governance in artificial intelligence. This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards deeper collaboration and mutual prosperity between China and Russia.
