Calcutta HC Asks Bengal Govt: Why Create SIT a Year After RG Kar Hospital Allegations?

The Calcutta High Court questions the delay in forming the SIT to investigate financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, months after allegations surfaced. Former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali seeks an ED probe against ex-principal Sandip Ghosh. Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj questions why the SIT was set up a year after the allegations arose, with the case set to be heard again on Friday. Ali contends that he had alerted authorities in 2023 about Ghosh’s alleged financial misconduct. Ghosh was removed as principal following a tragic incident at the hospital. The West Bengal government then established the SIT on August 20 to investigate the financial discrepancies. Stay tuned for updates as the court further examines the case.
