Lucara Diamond Corp Unearths Massive 2,492-Carat Diamond in Botswana
Canadian mining company Lucara Diamond Corp made headlines with the discovery of a gigantic 2,492-carat diamond at its Karowe Diamond Mine in northeastern Botswana. This remarkable find is believed to be the second-largest diamond ever found on Earth, following the famous 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond discovered in South Africa in 1905. Lucara’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi proudly posed with the massive gemstone, symbolizing the significance of this momentous discovery.
Using their innovative “Mega Diamond Recovery X-Ray Transmission” technology installed in 2017, Lucara was able to detect and recover the diamond intact.
