Belize’s delegate appreciates Baku Group for Bonaire colonization insights

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Belize to the UN, Carlos Fuller, praised the Baku Initiative Group for their efforts in addressing the issue of colonization of Bonaire at an international conference in Baku. Fuller emphasized the importance of self-determination, territorial integrity, and the advancement of the people’s rights and protection in his speech.

The conference, organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the Movement for Human Rights and Change on Bonaire Island, focuses on the path to self-determination for Bonaire Island, a former Dutch colony. Representatives from various countries and organizations, including Belize, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and the United Nations, are participating in the event.

Fuller urged for the development of self-government and support for the political aspirations of peoples in decolonization processes. The conference aims to empower the people of Bonaire and advocate for their rights on an international platform.
