The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians Calls for Stripping JNF UK of Charity Status
The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has taken a bold step by urging the UK attorney general to revoke the charity status of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) UK. The ICJP alleges that the organization has been funding Israeli military operations and illegal settlements, which violate UK charity laws.
According to ICJP, JNF UK, affiliated with Israel’s JNF-KKL, has been involved in property seizures and displacing Palestinians in the occupied territories. Following a similar move in Canada, where JNF Canada lost its charity status for similar activities, ICJP is now pushing for stricter enforcement of charity regulations in the UK.
Despite previous complaints and actions by the Charity Commission, concerns persist about UK donations potentially supporting illegal activities. ICJP’s senior legal officer, Dania Abul Haj, is adamant that the British government should follow Canada’s lead and put an end to JNF UK’s operations as a charity.
As the ICJP awaits the attorney general’s response, it remains hopeful that decisive action will be taken to uphold legal and ethical standards within charitable organizations.
