The proposed TV broadcast of a cross-party leaders’ meeting by the main opposition People Power Party was met with openness by the ruling Democratic Party. However, conditions were set for fair agenda-setting and respect for the opposition’s position. Kim Woo-young, head of the Democratic Party’s internal affairs office, expressed willingness to accept the proposal as long as it maintains a respectful and fair approach to the opposition’s views.
In a radio interview, Kim highlighted concerns that the proposed broadcast may not lead to substantial progress due to the provocative format set by the People Power Party. He also pointed out a perceived lack of leadership on the part of the opposition leader in the areas of government control and relations with the United States.
Despite initial plans for a one-on-one meeting between party leaders on the 25th, the Democratic Party leader’s recent COVID-19 diagnosis has led to a postponement. Stay tuned for updates on this developing political story!
