The EFF’s national chairperson Veronica Mente has reaffirmed her commitment to the party amid speculation about her future following Floyd Shivambu’s departure last week.
Allegations of a fallout with party leader Julius Malema over the government of national unity (GNU) talks and positions have been circulating. Sources claim Malema scuppered EFF’s prospects of joining the GNU, leading to Shivambu’s resentment. Despite claims of interference in negotiations, Malema denied offering Shivambu the deputy finance minister position.
Mente defended Malema, refuting claims that her chances of becoming speaker or deputy speaker were sabotaged. She emphasized that the ANC’s rejection of her as deputy speaker had nothing to do with Malema.
Remaining steadfast in her loyalty to the EFF, Mente vowed to fight for economic freedom within the party. She expressed her dedication to the EFF, highlighting her renewal of membership and commitment to the party’s values.
