Operation Against LRA Camps: A Major Blow to Kony’s Reign of Terror
A joint operation involving the UPDF commandos, SSPDF, and CAR army successfully attacked three camps belonging to the notorious Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in the Central African Republic. Led by Joseph Kony, the LRA has been responsible for numerous human rights abuses.
The operation resulted in the destruction of the camps and the capture of a significant amount of equipment, dealing a major blow to the LRA’s operational capabilities. UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye confirmed the success of the raid and emphasized the ongoing effort to dismantle Kony’s network.
Sources suggest that advanced tactics were used to catch the LRA off guard, further weakening their ability to regroup and launch attacks. While Kony remains a wanted man, experts caution that his capture may still take time.
The recent attack in CAR reflects a broader regional effort to end Kony’s reign of terror, with the UPDF’s relentless pursuit playing a crucial role in narrowing his options. As the ICC closes its investigation into the LRA’s crimes, the latest operation marks a significant step towards the total defeat of the LRA and Kony.
