The commission, led by Justice Isa, had its proceedings disrupted by the SC and postponed pending resolution of petitions challenging its formation.
Appointed under the Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act 2017, the commission included prominent judicial figures such as the then Balochistan High Court Chief Justice and the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice. Their task was to look into audio leaks related to judicial matters and conversations involving significant political figures.
The SC also addressed concerns raised regarding the jurisdiction of the high court in handling the case, emphasizing the need for proper investigation and fact-finding. The court granted leave to consider key points and suspended the high court’s order, directing that further proceedings remain on hold.
