Romania’s anti-organised-crime agency, DIICOT, said it was searching four homes in Bucharest and nearby Ilfov county on Wednesday, investigating allegations of human trafficking, the trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements, and money laundering. Hearings would later be held at its headquarters.
Andrew Tate, along with his brother Tristan, were arrested in 2022 on various charges. They have denied the allegations and claim a political conspiracy against them. The brothers were initially allowed to leave Romania but a recent court decision forbids it until trial proceedings are concluded.
Andrew Tate is known for his controversial online presence and has been banned from social media platforms for hate speech. Despite the legal troubles, he continues to maintain his innocence and claims lack of evidence against him.
