The Osun State Police Command recently arrested a commercial motorcyclist, Jacob Damilare, for allegedly raping a female passenger he had picked up from the Obafemi Awolowo University campus. The victim, whose identity was not revealed, was on her way to Moro when Damilare diverted into a bush, robbed her, raped her, and shaved her pubic hair. Damilare confessed to the crime, stating that the victim had spoken rudely to him when he made advances towards her.
After threatening the victim not to report the incident, Damilare was apprehended alongside other suspects for various crimes. The victim was taken to the Police Hospital, Osogbo, for assessment and treatment. Damilare will face charges once the investigation is complete.
In a separate incident, three men were paraded for stealing $40,000, a plasma TV, a motorcycle, and three mobile phones from a workshop. The Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, emphasized the serious nature of the crimes committed and assured that all perpetrators will face justice. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
